Have you ever had that dream where you are trying to run away from somebody or something, and you can't move despite trying to run as fast as possible? That is the energy right now. Mars, the planet of action and energy, stationed retrograde last Sunday at 8 degrees of Sagittarius within a day of Pluto stationing at 17 degrees of Capricorn.
We feel the Pluto station when it first occurs, and there are often earthquakes and other natural disasters that erupt with a few days of the station. Unfortunately, earthquakes occurred in both Ecuador and Japan last weekend. There was a powerful shift with the earth and with everyone. However, once we get past the station, we deal with Pluto retrograding for approximately five months. That is almost half of the year. This happens every year for five months, so we begin to acclimate to it.
Mars only retrogrades once every two years, and it is a personal planet; therefore, it is more palpable and significant. Both planets deal with anger, malice, power, and determination. A lot of people have been commenting about power struggles, internal anger, a lack of control, and the sense of feeling stuck. It took me over a week to write anything, so I know I certainly feel it.
When planets retrograde, it is a time of reflection. With Mars retrograde, it is an excellent time to review and reflect on how you can tweak and improve projects, work, and goals that you have already begun. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter, which is the planet that represents our hopes, good fortune, and our vision. With Mars retrograde in Sagittarius through May 28, 2016, this is a time to review how you want to expand your vision. Mars returns to the fixed water sign of Scorpio on May 28, 2016 and stations direct at 23 degrees of Scorpio on June 29, 2016.
When Mars re-enters Scorpio, this is a time to get clear on the issues from when Saturn was transiting in Scorpio from October 6, 2012 through September 18, 2015. It brings up issues or themes that might have occurred in the fall of 2012 when the Total Solar Eclipse occurred on November 13, 2012 at 22 degrees of Scorpio. It will also also trigger themes and stories which were taking place in your life in March of 2014 when Saturn, the planet of responsibility and Karma, stationed retrograde on March 2, 2016 at 23 degrees of Scorpio. Saturn cleared this degree at the end of October, 2014, so there might be themes from the fall of 2014 that also recur.
Scorpio is a deeply emotional sign. When Saturn was in Scorpio, it dug up a lot of issues for people around intimacy, fears, blocks, power struggles, financial debt, and karmic debt. The fact that Mars is stationing direct at this degree at end of June enables each of us to get more clarity on some issues that did not get resolved completely. Saturn in Scorpio was like cosmic therapy. Everyone had to deal with wounds or fears in some area of their lives, whether or not they had planets in Scorpio or the other fixed signs, which are Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius.
Now we get a chance to review choices, reflect on issues, and face the wounds more deeply to achieve healing. Scorpio is an extremely empowering and healing sign so use this spring and early part of the summer to get clear on painful issues that you would rather ignore because it hurts too much.
Mercury, the cosmic messenger, retrogrades on April 28, 2016 at 23 degrees of Taurus, which is a fixed earth sign. Mercury stations direct on May 22, 2016 at 14 degrees of Taurus. Taurus is the opposite sign of Scorpio.
Mercury stations retrograde this week opposite where Mars will station direct in Scorpio at the end of June. There is an obvious theme with planets stationing at 23 degrees! Last week and this week provide the stories that we will all be dealing with during the Mars retrograde through June 29, 2016.
Most are familiar with Mercury in retrograde. It happens approximately four times per year, and it is a time when communication can break down. When any planet retrogrades, its energy gets diminished. When Mercury retrogrades, be wary of miscommunication or senseless arguments, break downs in electronics, and difficulties or delays in travel. It is likely that you hear from old clients, friends, lovers, and people from the past -- especially with all of the other planets in retrograde, which make us revisit our past.
This retrograde period is particularly difficult to navigate because as of April 28, 2016, there will be five planets in retrograde: Pluto, the planet of power, death, and rebirth, in the sign of Capricorn; Saturn, the planet of structure and limitations, in the sign of Sagittarius; Jupiter, the planet of abundance and expansion in the sign of Virgo; Mars, the planet of action and anger, in the sign of Sagittarius; Mercury, the planet of communication, in the sign of Taurus.
Life will slow down with all of these planets retrograde. It is very seldom that there are this many planets in retrograde. Therefore, we are all going to feel it very strongly and will need to slow down and reflect. There is no choice. If you don't reflect to move forward, you will find yourself running in place. It a great way to burn calories, but you won't get too far. Use this time to review what you no longer want in your life. This is an opportunity to structure what you do want by taking a step back. I wish you much luck!
